Building long-term success with Cobra.
At FinDock, we’re proud to work alongside implementation partners who share our commitment to customer success. One of those partners is Cobra, a pragmatic and people-focused Salesforce consultancy based in the Netherlands.
With 100+ implementations and a team of 36 certified consultants, Cobra CRM supports organizations across sectors, from nonprofits and social housing to education, energy and manufacturing. Their mission? To build lasting relationships with their customers and deliver real, measurable impact with Salesforce and FinDock.
Getting to Know Cobra
Tell us a bit about yourself! What’s your role and what do you love most about it?
My name is Ruben Schuring. I’m a consultant at Cobra, which means I visit clients, get to know them and their organization, and help figure out how we can use Salesforce solutions to improve their work. Then I work in a small team to configure Salesforce to make that happen.
If you could describe your company in three words, what would they be?
Pragmatic, honest and friendly.
What’s a fun fact about your company that not many people know?
Did you know our founder chose the name Cobra because of the avant-garde art movement CoBrA (Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam)?
What’s the most unusual request or unique project you’ve ever worked on?
We set up Salesforce Marketing Cloud to build intelligent landing pages that calculated how many customers of an energy company could benefit by switching to sustainable energy (pulling data from multiple sources) and gave them a seamless way to accept the offer and update their contract in real time.
What makes you unique as a Salesforce Partner?
We are focused on a successful and long term partnership between our customers and us. This sounds straightforward, but it gives a clear focus when taking decisions. Worth to mention are also our down to earth culture and our experienced (Dutch speaking) customer support team.
Working with FinDock
How did you first hear about FinDock, and what made you decide to partner with us?
Our connection with FinDock goes back to 2016, when I was working at a nonprofit migrating to Salesforce using payment solutions that would eventually evolve into FinDock. The ability to connect donor data in Salesforce directly to payments was a game-changer.
As we began to focus more deeply on the nonprofit sector, it became clear that FinDock was an essential partner in delivering real value, because donations aren’t just transactions, they’re critical to the mission of these organizations.
What’s your favorite FinDock feature, and why?
The first thing that comes to mind is Guided Matching. While there are plenty of powerful features, this is the one where most customers see the biggest impact, saving time and improving reporting, which is what matters most to them.
Can you share a memorable success story where FinDock made a significant difference?
We recently supported a nonprofit in implementing the new Nonprofit Cloud together with FinDock, and it completely transformed how their December donations were matched and booked. What used to take months of financial reporting and admin work after the busiest time of the year was now completed before the month even ended. And that’s no small feat, over 30% of their annual donations came in during December alone!
Challenges and Solutions
Where did you see Salesforce + FinDock make a big difference for a customer? What challenge did it solve?
Another nonprofit faced a major challenge: online donations were taking up to 30 seconds to process. For today’s digital donor, that’s simply too long, many abandoned the process before completing their gift. With Salesforce + FinDock, the donation flow now completes in under two seconds. It’s a dramatic improvement that makes a real difference for both the donor experience and the organization’s results.
Industry Insights
What’s a current trend in the tech, IT, Salesforce, or payment world that excites you?
AI is clearly a major trend. As it takes over more of the technical work, it actually highlights the growing importance of the human side of what we do. What’s exciting is that we’ll have more time to focus on the people aspect of projects. Something that’s often undervalued, but absolutely essential to success.
If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about the tech industry, what would it be?
If I could change one thing, it would be the concentration of power and influence in the hands of a few dominant tech companies. While technology has the potential to empower individuals and create a better world, we increasingly see it being used to maximize profits by exploiting human attention. I would love to see a tech industry that prioritizes societal value, well-being, and long-term impact over short-term financial gain.
Looking Forward
What are your future plans or upcoming projects that you’re excited about?
We’re currently working with the new Nonprofit Cloud across a wide range of customers, not just nonprofits, but also in areas like human services and government. It’s proving to be incredibly versatile. Having such a rich set of functionality natively on the Salesforce core (including the new Marketing Cloud) to pick and choose from is truly exciting.
Any advice for organizations just starting their journey with FinDock?
Take it step by step, but keep making small improvements because they really add up to a great user experience, which happens to be essential for modern donors. And don’t forget to include good webforms in your Salesforce CRM/Marketing solution.
